Malibu Strings to the Rescue

Today I'm running with a team in a relay of 178 miles called the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey. The "long wandering" as it is called starts in downtown Reno along the Truckee River, travels through the Sierra Nevada mountains, along the shores of Lake Tahoe, then circles back through the Northern Nevada high desert to where we started in Reno.  We'll be running in the day through the night until morning...as long as it takes for us to complete the course.

My first leg is this afternoon and it could be warmer than I have the gear for so this will have to do!

I love your short shorts. But don't forget to "lube up" Vasaline under your armpits and in between the thighs. Also, wear a hat not a sun visor to protect you head from the brutal sun. Water, Cliff Bar Shot Blocks, and Gatorade! Good luck on your adventure!!!

Thanks for the pre-race phone call Dolly! I truly appreciate your support and tips. In addition to the pointers you gave me, I remembered to take an advice posted on your blog for running in the heat. I soaked my running hat (not visor) in water and kept it in the cooler until my run. It helped tremendously because it was a hot day!

@Anonymous: believe it or not, there were women running in thongs! I will post photos.

Thanks for the good luck wishes!! It was an AWESOME journey I can't wait to share with you.
