Paying It Forward

I year ago I made a pact to give a gift (whether it is to a stranger or to a friend) that is handmade by me sometime in the year of 2011. The gift is not an exchange but paid forward to the first person who responded to my post when I made the promise.

I just finished my project today and it's all wrapped up and ready to go in the mail. The bow will probably be crushed in the mail. That too, was tied by my hands. Something I learned from my sweet and talented in all she does mom-in-law, Maggie. She was so supportive of my project and by my side in search of the supplies. If it weren't for her I may not have finished my project in time.

I know I am down to the wire as the clock is about to strike midnight in less than an hour and the year will come to an end. You could say I waited until the very last minute (and yes I did) but in my mind I am a step ahead and starting the year off with an accomplishment, however small, hoping that my handmade gift will bring a smile to the recipient of my pay-it-forward gift. I won't say whether that person is stranger or a friend. Perhaps they'll send me a photo when they get it so I can show you what it is.

To 2012 I say, 'bring it on!' and a Happy New Year to you my friend. May this year bring you all the very best and nothing less!

That sounds like a nice idea. But don't wait until the last minute next time.
