Monsoon Season

In Las Vegas you can look up towards the sky and find a cloudless canvas so blue it looks fake. Especially when it's backdrop to the deep green trees or terracotta colored tiles of the homes. We took this photo today.

I had hoped to see some thunderstorm during the months of July and August which is our monsoon season.  But the weather only got humid and didn't deliver heavy downpours and fantastic lightning streaks cutting through the dark sky.

Someone laughed at me once when I mentioned "monsoon season".   In Vegas?  Yeah--I have proof!!
Imagine the sound of heavy rain pelting the ground and the sound of water gushing through the rain gutters.
When it rains, it usually pours suddenly. Then as quickly as it came, it would be gone. After that, the air would smell warm and damp but we need it out here in the dessert so I never mind rain.

Yes, dry summer - I like the sound of the thunder and the rain on our metal roofing
