My husband's cycling team had a party at Sapphire Pool last Sunday. We were treated to a couple cabanas inside the Rio's topless pool and had another cabana set up at the public pool, Voodoo Beach, complete with flowers, towels, and all we cared to eat and drink.
John and I started our day by cooling off in the exclusive pool because we preferred the quiet and more mature atmosphere of Sapphire. As his teammates and their significant others made their way inside, I got out of the pool and went over to say hello to catch up on our lives over drinks and food. It was not too long before my husband came over to the cabana I was in to check if I was upset over something that had happened while I was away from him. He was approached while in the pool by a girl who had asked him for a sip of his alcoholic lemonade (and came on to him), to which he responded that he didn't think his wife would appreciate that very much but he kindly recommended the drink to her. Of course he knew that I would have offered her a sip because I wouldn't have thought much about giving, however small.
Besides that, there wasn't a whole lot going on at the mellow pool so we joined the rest of the group at Voodoo Beach. There I met a cute little girl who was one of John's teammates' daughter. The other ladies and I hung out with her for the rest of the afternoon and when daylight dwindled, I was the only one playing build-a-tent-of-beach-towels with her. I lost track of time because I was having too much fun and before I knew it, it was time for us to go home.
John and I had a really great time and looked forward to our next visit the Sapphire Pool. Unfortunately, I just learned that it could be a long time away...or perhaps never again since the
Las Vegas Metro Police Department arrested several people for prostitution and drugs at the pool today. I showed John the article and
slideshow; he was a little surprised to hear the news and we chuckled at the coincidence when he pointed out from the photo lineup, the girl who approached him that day, LOL.
It's too bad management put a halt to euro-style sunbathing on their property just because a few bad apples spoiled the bunch. My husband and I was at the pool one other time prior to last Sunday and commented on how many more topless, thong-wearing women there were at Sapphire Pool than any other pool we've visited. I think that atmosphere encourages other guests who wish to sunbathe without their tops to do the same comfortably because they are not one of the few at the pool.
So did the incentives for the girls from the Sapphire strip club to lounge by the pool backfire? Not completely, in my opinion. We could spot the ones who work there because they usually are topless, in a thong and reading a book with a bottle of water of bottle by their side (I had a long conversation with one who seemed genuinely nice, especially because I felt like I had infringed on her peaceful afternoon). I guess if unlawful activity had taken place at that pool, the logical thing to do is eliminate the fostering environment. Oh well, there's still plenty of other topless pools in Vegas where a lady can melt away her tan lines!
