Miller Chill Chelada Style

Sometimes beer is ... just plain 'ol beer. Blah, blah, blah. Beer can be dressed up with a squeeze of lime and poured over ice into a salt-rimmed glass.

I think that's what Miller is aiming for with their Miller Chill Chelada Style when they released it last spring. It's light beer brewed with a hint of lime and little salt and I LOVE IT!! It's smooth, goes down easy, and doesn't fill me up. It is the beer for people who are not a real fan of beer.

Miller Chill

For a 12 oz. serving there are:
  • 110 calories
  • 6.5g carbohydrate
  • 4.2% alcohol by volume
Miller Chill Chelada Style a refreshing take on beer though the concept is not new. Chelada, loosely translates as "cold one", originated in Mexico in the 1950s when light beer was poured over ice with a squeeze of lime and a hint of salt--an ice cold beverage for south of the border where the sun burns hotter and longer.

When my husband and I are boating on the lakes during the hot, long summer months in Las Vegas, this is the perfect refreshing beverage. We don't always want to pack the salt rimmer and lime so having the ingredients all in one bottle is convenient. Just open and enjoy! (I only wish Miller Chill was brewed in a can because glass bottles can be unsafe (and are sometimes illegal) in parks, on the beach, and even by the pool.)

Nevertheless, I give Miller Chill three cheers .

~Update~

After emailing the Miller Brewing Company Consumers Affair Department (millerbrewingonline@casupport.com), I received a response that the Miller Chills ARE produced in 12 ounce cans but the decision to carry them is up to the retailers who purchase them from the wholesalers. I was given Bonanza Beverage's phone number, (702) 361-4164, which is the Miller distributor in my area (Las Vegas) who can provide me with a list of retail locations that they have sold Miller Chills to.

I didn't get a chance to make the phone call but during my most recent visit to the local grocery store, I browsed the liquor and spirits aisle and sure enough there were the 12 can cases available and so I am just thrilled!! Our summers on the lake will be that much better now.
