Disney Bound

I've never been to Downtown Disney but we are here to meet a friend my husband has known for over 6 years but has never met. Their friendship is a testimony to the power of how a car forums can form a lasting bond. We're going to have lunch before we go into Disneyland.

Driving on Disney Ave, I was in awe of the sheer number of the palm trees that lined the streets around Disneyland. When I first moved to Redondo Beach over eight years ago, the palm trees were my first clue that I was in California and have come to associate them with the the Golden State.

I have also never been to the House of Blues so that was our pick for lunch.

I love seafood so this Louisiana shrimp creole over pan seared catfish and white rice was an easy pick from the menu for me. All I can say is YUM, YUM, YUM!! I had no shame being Miss Piggy over lunch.

After we were fed, Rob took us to the lodge part of the Disney Hotel for a taste of a little hidden secret, the Redwood Mai Tais. Rob is a graphic artist for Disney Studios; he knows all the ins and outs of Downtown Disney and Disneyland (a place he's visited many, many times before).

Since Disneyland does not serve alcohol, it was our chance to have a drink to toast to Rob's birthday which is on Monday. Rob brought up the point of Disneyland and what makes it so ... sacred for my lack of better words and that is--it is the only location visited by Disney himself (so it's okay that Disneyland doesn't serve alcohol; it's a family zone and where a million dreams have come true!)

I have never been to Disneyland. It sounds like you had a good time.
