A Night at Michoacán

This past Saturday, my husband and I went to Viva Michoacán with my husband's parents to have dinner in honor of their wedding anniversary which was earlier in the week. John and Maggie have been to the Mexican restaurant before and loved it but this was our first time.
We had a reservation so we were seated promptly...and then the margaritas followed. Yumm...they have excellent margaritas (my husband and I each had two)! Then we were entertained by a mariachi band while we waited for dinner. Maggie requested, Las Golondrinas, which if I remember correctly means, "the doves".
The band played our song request and another number, singing beautifully, their voices filled the vaulted ceilings of the restaurant. I wish I had taken more photos of different parts of the restaurant and the bar. I really like the lighting, ambience, and how the restaurant was decorated. I bet the bar is a great place to hang out for happy hour.
And the food...the food was yummy and we were served more than we could eat! Perhaps we were full from the chips and salsa or the soup served with it. The best part about huge portions was I had leftovers to eat the next day.

The only bad thing about the night was the location of the restaurant which was sort of deeper into Henderson (on Sunset near Ethel M's Chocolate Factory) with no easy way to get to but through surface streets. We are so use to getting everywhere on the freeway so this was "a trek". Still, the drive was more of a fun trip and chance to chat with each other than an inconvenience. We had a great time and plan to go back in the near future.
