Back in the Groove

Yesterday I went walking around my neighborhood for a good fifty minutes. I wore my heart rate monitor and set to stay within Zone 2 (105 to 123 b.p.m.) but after 25 minutes of walking, my heart rate was at 125 b.p.m. so I changed the setting Zone 3 (123 b.p.m. to 140 b.p.m.) for the remainder of the time. I averaged a heart rate of 125 b.p.m. peaking at 149 b.p.m.

When I got home, I felt so good and it was too beautiful of a day to stay indoors so I weeded the front and back yards and swept up the dead leaves that blew into our yard from the days where we had strong winds. Soon after I had finished working in the yard, the winds picked up and now I have more dead leaves, garbage, and debris in the yard to clean up...LOL!! Oh well, at least I got some sun on my skin, physical activity, and fresh air while working!

This morning, I did an upper body workout with my free weights working my chest, shoulders, back, triceps, and biceps with two different moves for each body part. My muscles were definitely stimulated when I had finished my routine (12 reps, 10 reps, 8 reps, and 12 reps per move).

As if that wasn't enough, I worked out my abs using the P90X Ab Ripper DVD. 25 reps per move so if I stuck with the entire routine, I would have done 399 reps! Before I had gotten sick, I was keeping up with the video but after a two week break, I could tell I had lost some strength in my abs. Still, I gave as much effort as I could muster to do the reps and felt accomplished when I was done. I still struggle with some of the moves but those will be a challenge for me to strive towards perfecting.

I would love to go walking right now with the temperatures in the high 60s (cooler than yesterday) and it's clear and sunny. But we have winds today, sometimes the gusts reach the mid-20s and I do not want to get stuck far away from home when the winds get high. There's lots of dust and sand flying around in Vegas when it gets windy and having that grit in my eyes, nose, and mouth will not be fun!

So I think that's enough for today. I can only focus on eating clean today and run errands. Hopefully the wind will die down so my husband and I can take the boat out on the lake for some fun! If not, I feel 98% recovered from my cold and will be ready to hit the gym again this week so I can get back up to full throttle.

P.S. I weighed myself this morning and am 133.6 pounds, down from my last weigh in of 134.2. It's not much but it's something. I'm trying not to focus so much on the number on the scale as I am on my body composition.
