It's Dark Outside ...

It appears very dark outside when I look through the limo tint of my car. We finally got it tinted today. The VW Rabbit has so many big windows, anyone close by can see everything inside my car and often times I feel like like I'm sitting in a big glass display.

My husband got a taste of what it felt like "to be on display" when we switched vehicles for a day so he can get the oil changed on my car. He wasn't as concerned about the lack of privacy as he was about the damaging sunlight on my skin and the interior of the car. Yesterday during the drive to Zion National Park, the sun glared down on me the entire time; cooking my skin and so that was the last straw--he took the car in today.

The car looks great and the tint will help save my skin from the harsh Vegas sunlight. Driving the car takes some getting use to though--I feel like I'm sitting in a cave while driving around in broad daylight ... lol.
Bit by bit, we're making changes to the Rabbit and Projekt Peter is going well. These are photos of the car without the tint and before we made any modifications.

One of my buddies in Chicago got so tired of being pulled over and ticketed for his tints that after the upteenth ticket, he got pulled over again, and offered to just cut off the tints while the officer watched to avoid the ticket. So remove the tints he did....

Your husband drives a truck? I heard in Las Vegas, GM is supposed to be doing a pilot program of GMC Envoys or Denali's that are fuel cell vehicles this year. Trip about that is, Fuel Cells, i.e. and their electric motors, don't have to ramp up rpms like your average engine does. I hear the acceleration is ridiculous. I'm glad they're not offering those in Chicago....mass hysteria on the roads.....

Hey, Corrin. I actually passed by several motorcycle troopers this morning at a speed trap (which always brings the freeway to a crawl). I felt that they were eyeing my car but ultimately didn't pull me over. Had they nailed me for speeding, they may try to ticket me for the windows too.

I think they would have to understand that a limo tint is necessary in Las Vegas--especially on a small vehicle with such big windows. I would imagine during the summer, it would feel like sitting underneath magnifying glasses. This car has yet to see a Vegas summer but it's ready!

Dom, sorry about your friend! i don't plan to take the tint off my car so i'm crossing my finger that it never becomes an issue.

yes, my husband drives a chevy (GM). the fuel cell vehicle is interesting--I would love it(on my rabbit)! but i can see on roads where it's already crazy what kind of havoc the crazy acceleration might wreak. (trust me, i don't need more larger vehicles flying by around me on the freeway!)

on a related subject, our truck has a rev limiter which is annoying when you're towing a boat and need to pass another vehicle on a two-way road. i really hate that.
