Chia Pet Turtle: Day 20

I checked on Mr. Chia Pet Turtle this morning as part of my morning routine and am sorry to say Mr. Turtle has some troublesome thinning spots (eerily similar to the top of my husband's head ). He had a good start when we planted the Chia seeds on him at the end of December but had slow start a week later and now I'm afraid Mr. Turtle will have to get a Mr. Clean shave.

You got yours to sprout? Every time I try those things I am horribly unsuccessful... So what is your trick?

Corrin, I'm sure you'll have better success with your Chia Pet. I have two brown thumbs...LOL!!

Talina, if I could offer any helpful suggestions (you're asking someone who has yet to grow a fully covered chia pet!), I would say:

1) soak the seeds first until they have a gel-like coating. It will help them stick to the pet and I think it helps them germinate better and...

2) water EVERY DAY. I didn't realize how much water the clay pet needed and forgot a day of watering at the start (which I think negatively affected the growth of the seeds. I mean, duh, we live in Vegas where it's even dry in the winter ... how I can I forget to water! LOL. Best wishes.

I will have to replant Mr. Chia Turle tomorrow.

Corrin, I meant to ask which Chia Pet did you ask for? I wish you the very best and look forward to seeing photos!! I am POSITIVE you'll have better luck and (in Vegas-speak) I'll bet on that!
