Wurst Fest 2007

Since our buddy and his girlfriend weren't able to stay in town Saturday night, my husband and I headed to Boulder City to check out Wurst Fest 2007. There were car shows, antique auctions, food, wine tasting, beer, and entertainment throughout the day. The festival carried into the night and we had arrived just in time.
It seemed as if every family in Boulder City was there at Central Park on 5th Street and Avenue B to join in on the fun. Children and adults of all ages were lounging on lawn chairs, sitting on curbs, eating at picnic tables, waiting in line at the ice cream truck, and dancing on the street to the Tommy Rocker Band. The children, like fireflies in the night, had glow sticks, necklaces, and bracelets on.
We immediately found the the beer stand and enjoyed some ice cold Bud Light. Ahh... $3 for a big cup filled to the brim with beer was absolutely refreshing!
Then we headed for the sausage line to pick from the Italian sausage, hot dog or bratwurst for dinner. $4 each got us grilled bratwursts, chips, and toppings of sautéed onions, peppers, and sauerkraut. All we needed to dress our bratwurst was sauerkraut and a generous squeeze of mustard.
It was certainly one of the best bratwurst we've ever had; just soaked with flavor!! YUM...
Before the night was over, we visited the Southern Nevada Wine & Spirits' tent for some wine tasting. $15 gets you all you can drink throughout the day but a glass ($3 each) was plenty for us. The night was ending and so we were invited to taste all we wanted.

John and I sipped wine while savoring the warm night, music, and laughter in the air. We ran into people that John knew through work and chatted for some time. We had such a great evening!
To sum it up...
2 large cups of beer (Bud Light) = $6
tip = $1
2 bratwurst with sauerkraut = $8
2 glasses of wine = $6
Properly ushering in October = Priceless

When Monday came, I still had a craving for sausages so I went for a spicy beef sausage with extra fixings. (Heh, heh)
